Nicholas relocated from New Orleans to Washington, DC in the summer of 2006. In New Orleans he witnessed firsthand the bungled response to Hurricane Katrina, and following the move north he rededicated himself to public service. After a variety of administrative jobs, Nicholas joined the NIH as a contractor on New Year’s Eve, 2007 and became a Federal employee in March of 2008. He began work in the Office of Human Resources, Client Services Division. There Nicholas observed and absorbed the basics of running a fast-paced government office and how to establish connections across the different administrative fields of the NIH.

Nicholas’ rotations have taken him all over Bethesda and even to Chicago, where he rotated with HHS. He converted out of the program as a Management Analyst with the National Institute of Mental Health and is enjoying having a permanent office. When he’s not analyzing management, Nicholas can be found owning the Wiffleball field (seriously), watching the Yankees, or planning trips to Mardi Gras.
